Elementary School 50 in Lyric

  Students who live within the boundaries of the new DCSD neighborhood school, and are in the grades served by the school will be eligible to attend the new elementary school in the RidgeGate neighborhood.  This includes Lyric community. Final boundary determinations will be established in 2026 by the Board of Education.

The new elementary school will open its doors in August of 2027 for the 2027-2028 school year! The school will be able to accommodate 750 students.

While Colorado is a choice enrollment state (meaning families can enroll in a school other than their “assigned” neighborhood school), the Douglas County School District has policies in place to ensure that enrollment priority is given to families who live within a school’s boundaries. Families who reside in RidgeGate are guaranteed enrollment in the new elementary schools. Families outside of the school’s boundaries who wish to enroll may express their desire to do so via Douglas County School District’s Choice Enrollment process. However, students outside of the school’s boundary will only be accommodated per the DCSD Choice Enrollment Procedures (as space and programming permit).

No! If your child(ren) are currently enrolled at another DCSD school they are welcome to remain at that school. Please keep in mind, however, that when attending a school other than your “assigned” neighborhood school, your family may not be eligible for DCSD transportation.

The new school will officially be named closer to its opening date. Until then, it will be referred to as Elementary School 50. We will be looking to the community for input and feedback on possible school names. Put those thinking caps on! Ultimately our Board of Education will make the final decision on the school name.
